Aree learned how to work by following her heart, not just her head
Aree didn’t seek out a career as an actuary, as a strong math student, she simply fell into it. The actuarial world was a good fit for her analytical mind, so she ended up working at a major actuarial company for 25 years.
Towards the end of this time period, Aree discovered that she was drifting and uncomfortable with her work. She began to realize that she craved connection and that she preferred working with people over spreadsheets.
Now Aree supports analytically minded individuals as they learn to use their brains to follow their hearts to identify the best path forward in their careers.
How to align your life with your values
Living a life that doesn’t align with your values can cause friction, so the first step in aligning your career with your values is recognizing exactly what those values are. Take a step back for a moment and think about which values are truly important to you.
Once you have recognized what your values are it is important to define them. What do they mean to you and how should they present themselves?
With that definition in mind then you can activate your values. Put verbs to your values and think about how you can apply your values to what you do. This will ensure that you are acting on your values and putting them to work.
Who do you want to be?
Next, define the vision of who you want to be. Step away from traditional achievement-oriented goals to intentionally decide what you want to do. This vision will help you create sustainable success so that you can be more focused on who you want to be and the choices you make. Stop for a moment and consider, where do you want to go and who do you want to be?
Learn how to recognize who you are and where you want to be
Aligning vision and values with your life can be a challenge for analytical minds since the typical follow your passion guidance doesn’t quite add up. If you have found yourself wondering what else is out there you won’t want to miss this interview with Aree Bly. Press play to learn how important it is to recognize who you are and where you want to be to propel your career forward.
