Why Gabe Created the Solopreneur Money Podcast…
What were you doing in 2008? Maybe you were working for a big company or just finishing college. I, on the other hand, started my own business—in finance.
Great timing, I know.
At 37, I was married with three kids (all under the age of nine), and my wife Melissa, a nurse, was working nights and weekends so our children wouldn’t have to be in full-time daycare. I was working nonstop to provide for them, doing everything I could to give my best to my clients and my family. Then in May of 2008, I got an email from “the mothership” asking me to justify the advice I gave clients, questioning my decisions. They wanted me to explain why I decided to help people in certain ways—when my goal was always to serve my clients’ best interests.
I was instantly angry. At that moment, I made a decision—I was going to start my own firm.
Since then, I’ve learned most solopreneurs have a similar story—your boss or parent company wants you to care for their clients or business their way. They ask you to operate on their terms so they can create freedom for their own lives—not yours.
If that sounds familiar, this podcast is for you. If you’re successfully running your own gig, consulting, contracting, whatever you do—and you’re too busy to focus on your business’s finances, this is for you. It’s for solopreneurs who want guidance for their finances as they navigate the complexities of their success.
In this podcast, you’ll find practical tips to help you take control of your finances and build the life you want. I’ll offer guidance and share my tips to make you a better business owner so you can become a better parent, spouse, friend—a better you.
