Susie was ready for a world of fun and excitement from an early age
Although Susie Briscoe grew up in London, her aunt took her each week to ride horses on the beach on England’s south coast. This experience was a treat for a London girl and opened her up to a lifetime of freedom and excitement.
When Susie went to work for an advertising agency in the 60s she did the typical jobs that were open to women at the time: getting the coffee and taking orders from men. However, her boss saw something in her and offered her an account executive position. Not only did she love it, she was good at it too.
Volunteering with research charities led her to meet London’s who’s who
Once married, Susie quickly transitioned to becoming a mother and housewife. However, she kept up her professional exploits by volunteering as a fundraiser with research charities.
This position led her to meet the who’s who in London society. She organized soirees from luncheons to fashion shows and became quite the woman about town.
Listen in to hear the irony that led Susie to fundraise for a homeless charity at a time when she almost became homeless herself.
Susie has seen ups and downs in her life
When Susie and her husband lost everything she learned a humbling lesson: it’s not what you have but how you show up that is important. No matter whether Susie was living in million-pound estates or staying with caring friends, she learned to take each day as they come, to put on a brave face, and to make it through to live another day.
Susie’s life has taught her that there is no room in life for anything less than authenticity. It is essential to know yourself so that you can discover what makes you tick. Once you know this you can give back to the world based on your values and your circumstances. This is how you create a legacy. Your unique experiences leave you in a position to give back in a way that is distinctly your own.
Listen to Susie’s one-of-a-kind story to learn from her vast experiences. Learn how to make a tangible difference in the world by living and expressing your values.
