How Susan became a marketing strategist
Susan Harrow started out in the world of PR as a publicist who helped get people booked on national networks. When she discovered that many people have a hard time finding the right things to say on air she started media training her clients.
Now Susan is a marketing strategist who coaches socially conscious innovators and problem solvers to create the right messages that the media will love and use Susan has spent 32 years helping thousands of CEOs, entrepreneurs, and thought leaders appear on national media so that they can soak up their 15 minutes of fame and make connections with as many potential clients as possible.
PR requires as much personal development as it does professional development
Susan has noticed that doing PR by reaching out to the media and podcasts for interviews requires as much personal development as it does professional development. This is because everything you publicize has to be in alignment with your brand. You have to ensure that your brand and messaging are in sync. To create the business and brand that you want, you need to use these media platforms to build credibility, connections, and partnerships.
How to start your PR campaign
To ensure that you are creating messages that the media will love, you must first set your intentions for your business and marketing. Think about who your company will serve and what you want for yourself spiritually, financially, personally, professionally, physically, and emotionally. It is important to get specific in your intentions. Make sure that your website and social media is congruent with your message.
Package any research that you have on your product in new and interesting ways. Include client success stories that relate to your audience on your website. Remember that people want to connect in an energetic way rather than in a logical way, so strive to ensure an energetic connection.
Next, you want to ensure that you are creating a message that directs the audience to do what you want them to do. Of course, you want them to go to your website, but then what? Should they enroll in your course, buy your book, or sign up for your email newsletter?
Listen in to hear how you can create a repeatable pattern and build it into a system to use to create press releases and create a format for your signature story.
