You may be wondering why we are discussing fitness today on a financial podcast. Fitness has so much to do with mindset, and, as we have seen in numerous previous episodes, the mindset has everything to do with being a solopreneur. Fitness expert, Jeffrey Savage, joins me today to discuss the mindset of fitness. Listen in to hear how a fitness mindset goes far beyond trying to lose a few pounds.

Why Jeffrey became a fitness trainer
Jeffrey Savage was fired from every job he ever had. Even though he was a hard worker, he was a horrible employee. It took Jeff some time to learn, but he finally realized how he could learn lessons from his previous failures and even from people he didn’t like.
Jeffrey’s purpose starts with his kids. He knew that rather than listening to him they would emulate him. He wanted to teach them how to suffer well, how to handle success, and how to handle failure. Teaching these lessons to his kids caused him to learn them himself.
Goals must start with a purpose
Most people choose to start a fitness program to lose weight or get in shape, but these goals aren’t enough motivation to stick with a plan. Jeffrey has seen that without a deeper purpose, people won’t have the drive to be motivated and disciplined enough to get out of bed and to the gym when they don’t feel like it. There has to be something pushing the past that mental and physical state.
Jeffrey helps his clients set a goal, develop a plan, and work through the plan. He is there every step of the way to hold his clients accountable as they begin to form healthy habits. Together they start small to build the foundation. These steps toward personal growth and development evolve as the client learns to master the basics. His commitment to himself translates to his clients and he has created relationships that have lasted for decades.
Fitness habits for solopreneurs
Jeffrey recommends that people new to fitness should start with small, achievable goals. Creating the right systems is important to bring about lasting changes. Starting small also takes away the anxiety that often comes with starting something new.
You can build upon these small changes and eventually change your life. Jeffrey recommends having a mindset coach help you as you acclimate to the busyness of exercising. A mindset coach can hold you accountable as you make the necessary adjustments to your life.
Jeffrey’s wife, Cheryl Zalieckas, also works with his clients to help him understand more about them with a DISC assessment that helps him grow inside and out. Exercise decreases anxiety and depression so starting a fitness routine grounds people and can help them break free from certain tendencies and create opportunities for previous problems.
The Be-Do-Have
If you aren’t happy where you are in life right now you need to think about who you are currently being. To change who you are you must change what you are doing to have the things you want. Everything you do, you do in the state of who you are. Whatever you have now is directly related to what you are doing. Are you ready to be a different version of yourself? What will you do to make this happen? How will you shift your mindset to achieve your goals?
